I have a new 170. The main sheet does not stay in the boom track, and spills air out between sheet and boom.
Anyone else have this problem.

All that I have seen do that...

davesc,

Mine is that same way and I've seen one other 170 and it is that same also.
I think they were designed that way, but I could be wrong.

Tey are designed that way !

Tim is correct.

The 170 sail does not ride in the track, only the slug for the out haul. this gives an open foot at the base of the sail.

Adjust the out haul to help shape your sail, in light air, the base would be more open, more shape to the sail. pull the out hall all the way back to flaten the sail shape and the gap is smaller at the foot of the sail.

Differences among different years

Newbie here. I haven't figured out how to post a new thread. Sorry for the intrusion. I am in the market for a newer used 170. I wonder if anyone has tracked major improvements over the years. Which year do you recommend?
