Fell over night! Just a reminder that winter is not done with us quite yet.. I'm glad I did not remove my cover this pat weekend! I'm very glad this will melt fast because my snow blower died trying to cut through this stuff... Maybe it's time for a new belt????

We were spared

Here in RI, we were spared the white stuff. Just got rain and raw weather. Even today is very raw. But the Maine mountains may have gotten 18" at the end of it all, today. Even in this area, we are always told to keep our defenses up and won't be free from the chance of a killing frost until May 31. I'll be driving to Maine in a couple of weeks. Hopefully it'll all be gone by then. It'll be the heart of "mud" season by then! ;) Mainsail, where is Broad Cove?

Ski, Polish,Sail

This weekend I will ski on this new snow at Whiteface Mountain, next weekend I will be at the Marina working on the boat, a few weekends after that I'll be sailing on the melted snow that I skied on this weekend. In upstate New York you have to be flexable.

I have seen snow on the daffodils around Easter

in many years. We went from shirt sleeves to parkas in 24 hours in Maryland.

Ross that is

exactly what we have here now. The daffodils are peeking out from under the snow! Springtime in Michigan, what a sight!

Maine Sail ...

when we were trying to answer trivia questions one day when we were at Sugarloaf. This came up ... What's the snowiest month in Maine? March. What month is the next snowiest? April. True?

Hey Randy

I see by your profile you used to have a Rhodes 18. Great boats huh? I have one now that I keep on a lake. 1955 #13. BTW, ever been to Rogue Island? I hear it is very beautiful. Mainesail, I wish I could ski this weekend but I have a little over half of the bottom still to sand before I apply the BC. Spars are done and I have been working to reattach the HW this week. Hey Maine

If you didn't see my post, I saw the first bunch of ducklings yesterday, on the canal behind the house. They are only a day or two old, but there they were. So spring must be here. Hope it gets there soon. SNOW BLOWER?? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??

Just be glad you have to ask..

"SNOW BLOWER?? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT??" It beats shoveling and is a great tool for us Northerners! Second snowiest month this year has been April but I'm not sure historically. My guess would be Feb as second..?? Tim R. Let me know if you need a hand!

A hand?

I need five hands but you really do not want to be sitting under my boat this weekend in 40 degree temps sanding. I would only wish that fate on the worst of enemies ;-) It is truly amazing how much bigger a 35 ft. boat is over a 28 ft. boat. I think I will be sanding twice the area. A little note on skiing. I was in Vermont skiing for a week when we got the blizzard in Feb. 40 inches of fresh, virgin white stuff. No way I could ever live in Florida! No offense but I need my winter fix. Tim R.

I once met a girl from coastal South Carolina

Who said that she never thought to put snow and shovel in the same sentence. ;)

Ross, she may not have been able to put them in

the same sentence, but they are sold in the hardware stores down here. On the coast they are used in the seafood packing houses to move ice and oysters. There have been times when we have been treated to the white stuff in excess, such as January of 2003, which dumped 18" at Buxton, NC. Here at home in Fountain Inn, we enjoyed 86 degrees on Tuesday, 60 today and anticipate 27 degrees overnight. Such is springtime in the South. Steve

Maine

would be a great place to live 3 months a year if it wasn't for the damn bugs. Yes, it snows is May, but it melts quick. Tim, I think the Rhodes 18 might have been one of the first fiberglass boats built, mine had no ID number, but the registration from Conn. had it listed as being built in 1955 too. I miss it. Been to Rouge, its quite a spot, about a 6 hour sail away for me. Lots of nice places to sail up here.

Global warming?

Last weekend here in Atlanta it was almost 80 degrees and I was sailing in a 15kt breeze. Tonight it's going down to the mid 20's... Go figure.
