LaDonna Bubak - Planet Catalina

Ok, so this isn't a question but just had to share. My birthday was this weekend & my folks gave me this really cool ice chest (I believe it's Coleman) that is actually a little mini fridge/heating box. It has adapters for 12v or 110 and is smaller than the el cheapo ice chest I use now. I've never bothered with the built in ice box cuz it doesn't have a lick of insulation so this this is perfect! Just thought I'd share if anyone else is looking for a solution. LaDonna

Happy Birthday!

LaDonna, I've often wondered about these - how fast they cool down and how much current they draw. Let us know... John

Thanks!

I'll let you know but the box said they only draw 4 (?) amps. Not bad, really. And nothing gets all wet & yucky (that is the technical term). LaDonna

I Have one also

I got one about a year ago. I have found that if you don't open it for a week or so everything will freeze. The cure for this has been to put a small piece of paper in the door jam to hold it open the thickness of the paper.

I own one

I own one of these things and it works great. I had a small one in my jeep and it worked great. I then bought a larger one for the boat and am very pleased.

my $.02

I bought a model a year ago made by Igloo. They do work great although the amp draw is a little too much when I'm at anchor ( I only have 2 Group 27 batteries). Thanks for the hint about putting paper between the seals, I tend to freeze milk if the ambient temperature in the boat is below 65 degrees. p.s. happy birthday LaDonna
