We are still heading north from Punta Gorda everything is great and now in Anna Marie Island and heading to Gulfport today, while on our trip our backup 12 volt cooler has been acting up so when we get back home we will be looking for a replacement for sure.
What has anyone found to be good working off 12Volt,some of our Club members have one that can be set up as ref or freezer with temp control as cold as they want and very quiet too so what are you using.
Some here I think has one that fits next to under the nav station on the 356/36 Hunter.

Nick...

head over to WallyWorld and see if they still sell the Coleman ac/dc cooler. It's a thermo-electic one, but at a price below $100, it might be what you're looking for.

The Coleman units will not freeze anything. They're only capable of approx. 40 degrees lower than the ambient air temp. So, if it's 85 degrees outside, the box will only get to 45 degrees.
Here's a shot of ours mounted under the nav. station. Of course, it makes drawing at the nav. station a little tight, but oh well.

I have an Engle unit and it works exactly as advertised. It will actually freeze beer if set too cold. Great unit, dependable, but a tad pricy. Not sure how it will fit, but I keep mine under the table on my 28.5, lashed to the mast.

I've had a Dometic three way for about 20 years. I came with a pop up camper I bought in the early 80's. Runs on AC/DC and propane. I would plug in at home and get real cold than run in on propane while camping for weeks at a time. A 1lbs propane cyl would last 4-5 day depending on how warm it was. It would even freeze ice cubes. I wouldn't use it on propane inside the cabin, but out in the cockpit or on deck would work fine.

I have the Coleman AC/DC on my boat as we speak and it only keeps things 40/50 % and small but since on this trip got really noisey for some reason too much to sleep with on if some one is in the vee berth for sure.
I will be looking to get some thing better keeping it cold and like the ones that can adjust to freez or Ref.
I have great house bank and Gen so battery power not a problem just want to have backup Ref for fruit, beverage and food.
I will be trying to get one shipped to our home soon for our next trip the end of april to the Keys and Dry Tortugas,we are out until Apil 18 for now and we search the internet for the best deal.
