Mesh or Lee Cloth

Jamie, I would rig up a lee cloth running across the opening or use some type of fine mesh. Have it hooked under the vberth cushions and also on each side. This way it will allow air flow and allow you to see the baby easily. Jeff

Cushions, pillows...

more cushions and more pillows... We had set up ours for our little 5 months old princess, way back then. I had made a clear plexiglass door allowing her to see us and vice versa. We made high enough that whenever she would stand she could but not get out. We also made cushions for the v-berth side walls so that if she ever rolled, she'd be fine. We also used pillows to limit her movement to a certain area whenever she slept... We were completely amaze to see how she adapted to her boating environment...we often found her sound asleep in a spread eagle position to avoid roll-in. We also had rigged her car seat to latch donw in both the cockpit and the salon. She very quickly learn the drill..whenever we left the dock or get back in, she'd climb into her car seat and settled until we were secured. Today she's a 10 year old sailing maniac who can't get enough sailing. We launched Saturday and I simply could not get that mast up fast enough for her...are you done yet? can we go out yet? Wish you gather as many unforgettable sailing memories with your little one as we have and are still. GG "Emilie-Jolie" C30TRBS, 1987 We were am

Hatch board

When my boy was one, we used the largest lower hatch board to keep him in the V-berth. It's wide enough & when pushed down between the v-berth cushions & bulkhead stays in place. Note that they can still climb over it though. Another option we used when our boy was very "active" but we wanted him safe down below, was to put up a pack & play crib. it will fit nicely in the main Saloon of a C30 (table up). BTW. He can't sail enough either, now that he's four.
