Hello again,
I'm installing a Suzuki 2.5 on my inflatable and will be adding a fitting for an external fuel fuel tank. I'd like a 1 gallon fuel tank, unfortunately, the smallest Ive been able to find is a 3 gallon. Does anyone know of a 1 gallon portable fuel tank?

I think you will find that the internal tank is enough for such a small motor. One less thing to take up space in a small dinghy, one less them to load.

I had a 3.5 merc on my dinghy for my cruising cat (on davits). If we were going far we would grab 1-gallon jerry can, but 95% of the time there was no need and it saved space/weight just using the integral tank. And if your mother ship is a 22 feet, the inflatable must be small.

I think they don't exist because they are not wanted. I have a 2+ gallon Surecan that I like very much. Nearly impossible to spill. Not like other CARB cans.

I looked on line for, and found, a one-gallon gas can but it wasn't set up for a hose and I can't at the moment find it. I thought I'd bookmarked it but doesn't seem I have. There is also a video on line showing how to install a hose fitting onto a plastic gas can but I don't have that link at hand either. At least a solution is out there -- somewhere.

Agree with thinwater. We have a 3.5 merc also which uses very little fuel. Granted, our main use is back and forth to our mooring, but if we go exploring, a one gallon container is easy to take along.

The internal tank when full should provide ample run time. If you want to carry a reserve for emergencies take a small gas can and a funnel.

You can go for hours on the internal tank. It will be plenty. The suzuki 2.5 sips fuel.
PS - very tiny jets in those carbs so I recommend you ALWAYS use a fuel stabilizer and non-ethanol fuel (or TruFuel). TrueFuel is expensive but worth it if it avoids servicing the carb, and you won’t use more than about 3 or 4 quarts all summer.

Another trick some folk use is to carry 500-1000 ml in a Sig-type hiking fuel bottle. Small, enough for back-up, no-spill. I carry my stove fuel in Sig-type aluminum bottles. I have a few left over from my hiking and mountaineering days.
