Are the jib sheet lines supposed to be run on the inside or outside of the shrouds? I have them run on the inside right now, but I'm not sure if that's right. Please advise.

Which h27?

I don't know about the new model, but on the 75-84 model designed by John Cherubini, the standard approach is to run the sheets outside the shrouds and lifelines to a fairlead block on the toerail. If I furl our 110 to about a 100, I can run the jib inside the shrouds (I use a barber-hauler, a block on a line run to the other side of the boat, to do this.) This allows sheeting to the minimum angle. The sail flies fine, and we can point much closer to the wind. However, in any wind, we are making so much leeway (about 10 degrees) that it is just not worth the trouble. So we crack off, run the sheets outside the shrouds, enjoy the boatspeed, and stay out of round the buoy races. If you had a full keel, and wanted to race to windward, or make that landfall without tacking while cruising, you could install tracks on the deck alongside or on top of the cabin roof, and sail a 100 really close hauled. If you have a new h27, congratulations, and I'm sorry for wasting your time! David Lady Lillie

Re: Which h27?

Not a waste of time at all....I do have a new H27, but the info you provided did give me a good idea of what I need to think about. Thanks again!!

Jib tracks on deck by the cabin

Pictures of the new h27 show jib tracks on the deck by the cabin. This implies the the standard 110 jib would be sheeted inside the shrouds. A listed option for the boat is "Outside jib tracks." I would guess that these tracks would be used for a larger (130-150) genny, Let us know how you like the boat. We are all interested in the new models. David Lady Lillie

Re: Jib tracks on deck by the cabin

Thanks again, I'll leave it the way it is then. The new H27 has been great... couple of little adjustments were required to get the in-mast furling to function smoothly and I had a problem with the steering wheel lock but I think that these problems were the yard's fault rather than a Hunter problem. Other than that...it sails beautifully and is very "roomy" (I had 8 people on-board last weekend and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!!! Although I only took them for a quick sail). One thing I think Hunter should have included with the "deluxe" model though are holsters for the outhaul and other lines....no big deal though. Thanks again for the help.
