Small UV resistant zip ties work well for seasonal use. Cheap, easy to remove, and easy to install.
0.04 or 0.06" seizing wire for turnbuckles?

I've been using the CS Johnson velcro pins for over 5 years now, boat sits in the sun year round with the pins in place. A little faded now, but still work great when I do rig adjustments. No sharp edges or split rings to lose when working on rigging. Turnbuckles stay clean underneath. Spiders don't even seem to like the velcro as much as other surfaces to attach to.

yeah lets talk about them spiders...wtf? No one ever told me before buying a sailboat it would double as a floating nature preserve for half the worlds collection of spider species. I like the little buggers and have no ill will towards them, but jesus they are everywhere aboard.

Yes, arachnids seem to be everywhere.
I was sitting on the couch last evening quietly watching a show with my wife when suddenly a jumping spider landed on my leg. I jumped up, my wife jumped up, and the spider landed back on the couch. Sitting there in my seat, the spider taunting me,
"Now what are you going to do? Bad Boy! Bad Boy!"

Spider Away spray works well for canvas but only lasts 2-3 months
Going back to turnbuckles... I view securing turnbuckles in two ways - preventing them from turning at all and preventing the studs from completely coming out. The latter is easier and more robust as nearly any piece of wire or pin will jam against the threads. Keeping a turnbuckle from moving at all is less of a guarantee

In the tropics geckos will come aboard and live quietly and mostly unobserved. Not a spider to be found. We know if there are no longer geckos onboard because spiders are everywhere.
Ive done this with non-mission critical turnbuckles. In some cases a single zip tie per turnbuckle was enough
They do, but a lot less than the spiders, and much easier to clean up. It also tends to be contained near their hiding places, which are generally out of the way. We have plants on board and they like to live in them, so poop is contained and just fertilizer fort them.
Not sure those are the same kind. The ones on the boat are the small 2" house geckos found in warmer climes.
You have a regular ecosystem going there!
If anyone wants lizards - Agami, Enoli, whatever, we are over run with them here in FL Only the Green Anoli is native. All the others are invaders - the curly tails, the brown aioli, the Jesus Lizard, and others. If they kept my lanai free of spiders I'd like them a lot more. But they don't. My exterminator said the only way to remove them is a lawn chair and a pellet gun.
