boat cushions

Knowing the cost of cushions, I'm wondering if the thick (1"+) yoga mats would work as a simple, lasting, and cheap solution for cockpit cushions? If it works, are there special types of foam to choose that will not let water in...or are they all basically waterproof? I've been using a yoga...

Anyone use an underlayment for their boat cushions? My aft cabin came with a piece of very open weave. about 1" thick, with a cover layer. Great for keeping a layer of air underneath. The woman doing new cushions has no idea what it is or where to get more. 2nd question, that same aft cabin has...
