Sentimental Value What's it worth?

Getting or being sentimental about a boat you do not own, is just a way to spend more (sometimes a lot more) money than necessary. Buying a less expensive boat that needs work, means working on the boat instead of sailing it. Also, it is generally accepted that anyone who buys a cheaper boat, expecting to save money, often spends more, much more, in the long run.
Well, I decided that I would let this boat go and wait a few years to save up and buy a newer boat perhaps a 425 or 385. However I got a call from the broker telling me that the owner liked me and my story and is offering to sell it for less. . So now the boat is back on the table after I mentally said good by to it. Sunday going to take another look with the wife. .
Easier said than done. I will be the first to admit that I have fallen in love with several boats before I purchased!
My cynical side says the seller dropped the price because he doesn’t have another fish on the line. He figures he can jig up the fish he just lost.
But this time the fish should be followed by a shark-like surveyor, right? The OP said that the ports were leaking for years, there's a delaminated bulkhead, and needs a cabin sole. What else is the OP willing to overlook for sentiment. Lack of engine maintenance? Deck softness? Old standing rigging? Chainplate issues?

No doubt the PO doesn’t want to pay to store the boat for the winter if he doesn’t have too, and supposedly he found a replacement boat so he’s looking to move on. I’m not willing to overlook anything. I am willing to understand what it needs and what I am getting myself into. Standing Rigging needs to be replaced it’s original and way overdue. I’ll have a proper survey done to see what I have overlooked.
