I agree, Ted, It looks like a fusible link..
Could be just a junction connecting the three wires. Should show up on their wiring diagram.

I thought Fischer Panda generators contained nothing but mystery electrical parts.

That looks like an IC package with identifying information printed on it. I'd google that for a start.

It's a semiconductor of some sort, like a LM317 voltage regulator or similar. Googling the numbers on the case will probably tell you what it is.

FYI, wiring schematic does not show this part, nor did inquiry with FP both in the US and Germany yield an answer. Checking with meter does not indicate that it's a resistor. If it's an "IC" or semiconductor, would it need a ground ? It's only connections are a 12v positive feed from the FP controller and the start coil of the starter solenoid. Is it possible that when the controller supplies 12v, it get a ground from the starter solenoid?

The best thing to do is to google the identification markings on that part. That will tell you exactly what it is, then maybe someone will be able to tell you what it is for.

Why haven't you done this?

I still suspect this component is being used as a diode arrangement. Coils can generate electricity when the field collapses. Normally the diode is in parallel with the coil, not in series. At this point all we know for sure is there's a semiconductor that is not original. It's hard to tell but the soldering looks pretty amateur
