Somebody knows.
How to remove the pin that holds the halyards deck sheaves and line separator. I see no access from either end. What’s the process?

Got a photo?

I would suggest you have to drill out a rivet, but hard to know without seeing a photo.

I'd have to go look to be 100% certain but I believe they are pushed in then held there with a dab of sealant or adhesive of some sort.

If you are replacing the sheeve go ahead and rip it out and pry out the goop holding the pin in place, then use some needle nose pliers with some rubber around the pin to protect it to wiggle it out. If it is stubborn some needle nose ViceGrips using the same method and tap on them with a hammer.

Took a few pics. You’d think a simple stainless snap ring on the end would be what secures the pin. It does end float a little. Perhaps an expansion ring? May just need to figure out a way to force it out.

Thanks for the photos…. I was thinking it was a bolted on deck organizer…so this is helpful.

Nothing in the open hole on the end (no bolt or screw head in there?

Nothing at all. Has to be an expansion ring. I’m going to try and force the pin out like Rick Webb had suggested and I’ll be sure to post process and results in this post.

Just went out and looked at mine.

If I squeeze the sheeves together so I get a bite on the axle I am able the slide it out to the edge where I can get a hold of it. It comes out too easy actually something I am going to have to address. The goop at the end has fallen away and is nonexistent.

Interesting. I’m heading to my boat this evening. I’ll give that a go.

Finally made it down to my boat. Funny, after all the fiddling around, I’ve done with this over the past few months, it decided to do what yours did and just slid right out. That aft hole is not looking very good though. I definitely have to do something about that.
I don’t think that’s supposed to be completely through. I can even see the blue conduit from the deck to mast wiring. How does yours look, Rick?

Was wondering what happened to you and how you were getting along with your project.

I think it is supposed to go completely through. You could get a bushing and set it in with thickened epoxy or the two-part clay epoxy. Don't bother with gelcoat just mask it off and hit it with some Krylon from more than six inches away you won't be able to tell.

Haven't touched mine.
Fourth of July to Labor Day is kinda the off season for sailing around here, it is just too freakin hot.

I've been redoing the outside of the house, new trim, moving electrical boxes, new soffit, and painting. Too damn tired to play with the boat.
