Das sind Teakleisten, die aufgeklebt, dann mit Schwarzer Masse ausgegossen und geschliffen wurden. Sieht immer noch aus wie neu.....

The tip of the oqurih mountain range. The marina is to the left of the picture. You have to aim for the big smokestack and it will get you close. The old GPS is much more accurate than the stack, but it's good to know during the day.

This is my best mate Arnie. Yes, he is drunk and confused. He sails better that way. He will never eat chili on my boat again......

View of the Great Salt Lake Marina 5 miles out. It's so easy to see I have to use the GPS to find the deep water channel to get back in.

Another shot of the south shore of antelope island. The south shore is shipwreck beach, where everything that is lost from the marina ends up.......

Had to get this elbow off the old motor, hacksaw and hammer and lots of foul language finally got it off. 25 years makes for a solid connection!

The engine compartment was covered in soot, and the whole boat reeked like exhaust and diesel fuel. All four motor mounts were broken, and when I got the transmission loose of the prop shaft the motor rocked over and the exhaust didn't hold it because it was broke under the insulation!

The hardest part of the repower was this damn little shift cable. Took me grinding on it for a day to get the bolts out.

Crane day. Dropped the motor into the bottom of the boat. then got out of the way for the rest of the boats dropping in the lake.

Pulled the motor in the fall, and spent the winter scrubbing the bilge and rewiring. Also had to have a shop fabricate a piece for the exhaust.

Pulled the head to see if there was anything to save. There wasn't. The previous owner told me it was a high compression motor and sometimes needed a push to get moving. But with the head off I can't imagine that was the case...... Froze up like the arctic.

I cheated and used the crane to pull the motor out. Many of the old salts around here told me to use the boom, but I didn't want to work that hard. The crane flew the old motor right into the back of my truck! For $60 bucks it was a deal!

New diesel on the crate. It's ready to go and waiting for crane day. The new one is almost exact, but the transmission is an inch longer......

Moved over all the periphials. Rebuilt alternator, flex plate on the drive, and all the brackets.

The hardest part was getting the exhaust and all the brackets off the old motor. 25 years in the salt environment makes things a little sticky and uncooperative....
