Ahoy,

I am changing the primary and secondary fuel filters on my YSM12 this week. Any recommendations on the primary (2, 10 or 30 microns) and words of wisdom on priming, bleeding the system after the filter replacements?

Thanks,
Bob

The small one on the engine should be 2 microns and the Racor should be 30 microns.

As for bleeding - if you have an electric fuel pump just turn the key to the run position. You should hear the pump clicking, then back off the screw (at the end of the braided hose in the picture) until fuel starts escaping then tighten up again. On the little Yanmars its pretty easy. When you are finished mark the bleed screw with a dab of bright paint so it is easy to remember if you have to do it on the water.

Don't forget to turn off the key when finished.
