Something is very wrong I'm told....(help please?)

The replacement mast is likely not as wide as the mast it replaced and when the bolt was tightened it likely bent the base. Spacers should have been used; the holes in the mast will take undue downward force and with time will elongate until the mast meets the base but the deformation will create play. Easy fix, remove, hammer until base back to shape and use spacers for the through bolt. It is a hinged base, this is a trailerable right? Just lay the mast down.

Since this is a replacement mast I think the holes in the mast were just drilled two close to the bottom of the mast. Elongate the holes so that the mast sits flush with the mast base and adjust the the rigging.
