My 1960/61 Pearson Electra (#19 hull) has a rigid centerboard/keel containing about a ton of lead. There are no fabrication drawings available for the model that I can find.
Is there a simple procedure for removing the lead ballast?
I am a competent mechanic and excellent equipment designer.
Drawings of any kind on this model would be greatly appreciate. Structural information for the Pearson Ensign should match the Electra.
    Thx!

Are you looking to scrap the boat or make repairs?

Remove the lead for maintenance and cleaning up the vessel. There are 1200 pounds in there.
So, just curious or do you know how it is fastened into the boat?

The hull is perfect with only too many layers of paint on the lower hull

If it was a demo job, I would have had a few ideas for you. Since it is (thankfully) a restoration, I am unfortunately not able to help so much. I don't know that particular boat's construction.

The original Electra had bunks, a galley & a head. There were only about 350 of those built. Later, The cockpit was made bigger & the cabin smaller. That was then called the Electra Day Sailor at first, then later called the Ensign. Over 1700 of the Ensign version were said to have been built. Do you have an original big cabin type Electra? or the Day Sailor version?
