Genoa sheet chafe

When I ease my Genoa sheet out it chafes against my lifeline. It seems this would cause accelerated wear of the sheet. When close hauled the sheets do not touch the lifelines.

Have I made an error rigging the sheets? Is the chafing less of an issue than it appears?

Not a problem. Just sail upwind all the time. Your situation is pretty typical.

Consider rigging a barber hauler when you're on a close reach or broad reach - that would move the sheet outside the lifelines, then to the car. That said, I haven't noticed an issue with this on my boat.

You should install a "genoa track" on the toe rail.... but your stanchions are mounted there.... so invest in a set of snatch blocks that you can clip to stanchion base or padeye and allow you to run a second sheet outside the lifelines.

Perhaps, you could move the cars forward which you would often want to do while running.
