It's the moment you've all been waiting for: the official announcement of the date and site for the 2013 O'day Owners rOnDAYvous. May I have a drum roll, please...
To mark the 10th anniversary (2003-2013), this year's big event will for the first time revisit a previous site. The rOnDAYvous will be held the weekend of July 12-14 at Lawrence Creek in Brightwaters, Long Island. That's on Great South Bay, just across from Fire Island. Michael Simon, a good friend of fellow O'dayer Bob DeSimone, has once again graciously offered the use of his waterfront property, with a few hundred feet of private bulkhead on a deep-water inlet. (OK, it's deep for Great South Bay, but plenty deep enough.)
There's plenty of room for games and activities, barbecuing, and the traditional outdoor SOS Band performance, and the Bay itself offers plenty of opportunity for racing, fishing, even a cruise across to Fire Island, if you're so inclined. (Of course, with the property including a private beach, you needn't sail over to FI if you just want to sunbathe.)
Apart from Michael's top-shelf hospitality, the other really great news about having the rOnDaYvous here is that dockage is free! Let me repeat that: Dockage is free!)There will be other costs connected with the rOnDAYvous, but nothing you can't handle.)
The year's first issue of the online newsletter "The rOnDAYvous Report" will be sent out in the next couple weeks, and it will include a lot more details, as will succeeding issues right on up to the big event.
