Hi Guys,

I am flying out Sunday to do a big wiring job in Puerto Rico and am wondering what is available near Fajardo /Porta Del Ray Marina for chandlery & marine supply stores. Google has not been much help..

We are shipping in about 8k worth of wiring supplies, plus the LiFePO4 batteries, solar panels etc... However there are always those little bits we may need that we don't have. Kind of a time constrained job so don't want to be driving all over the place for supplies, if we don't need to.

Wow.. should be a nice change from Maine.. And it is only a hop/skip/jump to the BVI.. Good luck with the work, Maine..
Nope, I have no knowledge of the area, just envious ..

Maybe we should go and promise to help find local sources of odds and ends so that Maine Sail does not have to suffer alone?

Maine, Have not been there since early 70's used to unload our fish in Playa de Ponce... there was a tuna cannery there... still could be for all i know.... but the cannery would always help with needed parts back then.... they were a good source for good parts info.... sounds like the right job and the right time of year.... all the best...

I wintered there in 93

I spent the winter of 92/93 as a liveaboard charter captain for a Jeanneau 51. At that time, the chandlery waslike a WM without any hardware and equipment to speak of. Mostly clothes and novelty items. I ended up mail ordering rebuild kits for Jabsco heads. Hopefully since then they have improved things.
I think you'll be quite impressed with the marina itself.

No need to haul or worry about finding supplies on the Island. Whatever is not available like in other parts of the US it is only 2 days away by UPS.

He was wearing shorts in 30 degrees this morning at Hamiltons so he will probably be buck a$$ necked in PR.

BTW, I felt like a complete wuss in my flannel lined Carharts!

Shorts?!

I was flipping channels last night and was reminded of the shorts we wore in the 70's!

The shorts we wear nowadays may as well be flannel lined jeans! (I got mine at Cabela's last fall).
