Ericson 29 Southport..
Hmm. It was a quiet morning in Southport for awhile. The clouds cleared, and a beautiful Winter day emerged. Word on the dock was, a pretty bad man was due in town. I had noticed the local constabulary looking pretty nervous earlier.
And out of the gloom he came. Seeing a cruiser coming UP the ditch this time of year is rare, so maybe that's what all the talk was about. And sure enough, it appeared to be a rough lookin' devil on the boat. Typically something of this nature gets escorted on out of town by the Coasties, but this feller must have been somebody special. This had to be so, because the usual helicopter escort wasn't to be seen. Turns out, this guy was a LOT more pleasant personality than I'd heard here. I relaxed my grip on the .45--

So Roger, it was my honor to meet you Sir. Very well kept vessel, and a heckuva nice guy to boot. I hope you have a pleasant trip back north, but Lord knows why anybody would want to go up there. It's cold, and I've heard there's Yankees everywhere. (That's supposed to be funny, before I get blasted for that one).

And maybe I'll catch you on the flip, man. Cool dude..

Aaaaahaa. I guess you got me figured.

Truthfully though, it's a very small, rusty, dull pocket knife; that's more a danger to me than anyone else.

That was good though.

Nice that you two could get together. You're two of my "favorite" contributors here. Now,Chris, get working on posting even more pictures, like Roger does.

Thanks to you both,

Stu

I've truly got a thousand of them. When you spend every day of your life on a boat, or working on one, they seem to add up.

And that may be the only picture I've ever posted of THAT scoundrel.

(My anonymity is shot to hell anyway)..

I need to be smart enough to ROTATE the cursed things too. That one pic is a pretty awesome panorama of a sunset offshore.

I just tilted the computer (or my head - I forget which!). I think there's some key combination to do that with the screen, but I only hit it unintentionally and can't remember the combination. :)

I hear ya about pictures, but like I tell The Admiral, "Once ya buy the camera, the pictures are free!"

Not necessarily - in the process of scanning (digitizing) 25 years worth of slides and negatives - that's 11 - 4" binders just of slides  ... a consequence of advancing technology.

Google "free photo editing and cropping software" and you'll find a bunch of programs. Just remember to hold your phone the right way and you won't need them.

Well hell, I hate I missed you man. I took that picture Sunday morning from right behind the boat I put in, an older Cheoy Lee Midshipman with the Union Jack flying aft. Right on the fuel dock. That boat is not the sexiest thing afloat, but it sure is a battle proven blue water boat. Very steady, and handles nicely. The owner told me it wouldn't point very well, but I showed him that wasn't very accurate. It will.
The boats log states that it has been to Hawaii twice, Alaska once, and nearly a hundred islands of the Caribbean..

Haaaha. Well, I'm married to a Westchester N.Y. gal, and she's "Yankee" through and through. Being an ol' North Carolina "country boy", we have a good time kidding each other about our respected heritage, and lineage. Or lack thereof. She thinks I was raised in a cave, raised by wolves, and used to be called, "Jojo, the dog faced boy". That is a vicious lie.

No one has EVER called me Jojo..

Stu, the operative term was, "good sense". There's yer problem.

She races big J-boats up around Block Island and such. Never married, no kids, 10 years younger, 6 figure salary.

Brain damaged evidently. Some gals just like a "boat bum" I guess..

Or losers.

Go figure...

Maybe she likes being photographed sideways & blurry, like she just furled the jib all seamanlike while the boat was knocked down on her beam ends.
