why is it, in the classified GEAR ads it shows that there are 655 "for sale" ads, when there are actually only 45 ads showing as listed....
and 181 "wanted" ads when there are actually only 18 available to view???
am I missing the rest of the ads somewhere?

they have either timed out or were removed by the owner....the number count may very well be so SOB can track the activity in order to see if these threads are beneficial to this site and it members...just my 2 cents lol

I'll look into it. We didn't write this software and I don't know the answer but my guess is it's showing a cumulative ad count, ignoring inactive ads.

I would think the cumulative ad count, or the count of all the ads placed since the conception of the classified section would be an unnecessary bit of information for us common folk...... at any rate, the way it is given, it confuses us:D

thanks for the reply...

Of course, it wasn't designed to do that. Something like that happens when another part of the application is modified, thereby breaking something else that previously worked.
