Well folks, it's been a fun couple of years or so on this forum while we sailed out 23.5. I'm moving on, as we have just bought a 1996, but new to us, Seaward 25 that we'll splash next spring. It is also a trailerable boat, but more substantial than the 23.5. The 23.5 was a lot of fun to sail and we will probably miss some of the things we liked about it. We'll try to sell it this fall, but may have to wait for demand to be a little higher in the spring. So below are the pictures of the 2 boats...out with the old and in with the new.

the 25 looks to be a whole lot more boat is it still a swing keel but non waterballasted 1.5' is not much of a jump but little steps are sometimes good I went from a 23.5 to a 30 and now ready for a 40 or maybe a 50 but little steps are much cheeper

It is a lot more boat, though not much larger. LOA is about 27' (with the bow sprit, I'm sure). It is not a swing keel, but has a shallow wing keel. It gives us just enough more room to make spending a week at a time on it more comfortable. Has an enclosed marine head and about a 7' double berth in the bow. I always thought it a little odd that most of the Seawards are ordered with wheel steering instead of a tiller, but I'm sure we'll get used to that. We don't want to go larger as we like the option of having a trailerable boat. We do keep it in a slip here, but also trailer to Lake Champlain.

Congratulations. Beautiful boat. Have fun. :)

Hope you realize that you can keep coming back here, just post in the General Interest section. Look forward to hearing about your experiences with that fine boat.

Sesmith, 1 year ago this week we purchased our hunter 28.5 while still owning our h240. I spent close to 6 months trying to sell the 240 by listing it on every free site I could find and a few that I paid for, including this site. I dropped my price many times in search of the right buyer without success. About mid march all hell broke loose with multiple e-mail inquiries daily and she was sold shortly after that. I wish now I had shown more patience and held my original price, but 2 boat payment thru the off season was taxing. If I had to do it again I would wait til late February to start the process. FWIW

Sounds like good advise. Thanks. I did put on the local craigslist, just in case anyone in the area is looking. My plan is to get a little more serious about selling it closer to spring. Looks like we may see each other on the lake next year...and we may have this year and just not have known it?

I have a soft spot for the hunter 240s and 23.5s due to ownership of the model. I always point out and watch any of them sailing near me so I'm sure we have crossed tacks. I sail singlehanded mostly between the inlet and the power plant.

See ya next year!

No doubt we have then. We've kept it in a slip at Treman for the last 5 or 6 years and have been out on the lake a lot during the season. We have mixed feelings about moving up in boats. The 23.5 is one fun boat to sail, even in conditions that are a little too much for it, and it's an easy boat to tow. Ours has taught us much about sailing over the last several years. The Seaward is a much more substantial boat, for the size, and will be more comfortable for overnights and longer week or more cruises. Still towable, so we can still pull it out and take it places as time permits.

I do remember the 240 that was on the last pier at Treman prior to this year. Was that yours?

Yes it was! We had slip # 348 for 2 years, the 240 was named 'garinion' which is gailic for granddaughter. This year, due to added length with the 28.5, we were moved out to 360 "the round slip"haha. Great pier with friendly people that know when to be respectful with noise.

I completely agree about the ease of sailing the ballasted hunters, they behave nicely when handled properly. I do love the added room below with the 28.5 but sometime miss the 240s agility.

And please don't remind of how much hauling and storage fees I have to pay now!! Miss that trailer bunches lol

I'll keep an eye out for your new ride next summer and give a wave, look for a huge old style radar dome mounted off the stern.

It's close. LOA is 26.75 LWL is 23. Definitely feels like a larger boat than it's size suggests. Congrats on your Ericson. Looks very nice. Now all we have to do is suffer the long wait 'til spring :)

Nice ad, the pictures will sell her for sure. Very reasonable price also for all the upgrades and improvements, she should sell quick. Good luck.

That's a Seaward thing from the factory. It's a chart of Florida waters. Not exactly relevant up here :)
