Some very in-depth coverage of Felix Baumgartner's effort to break Kittinger's record on the Discovery channel.
Good luck to him.

Update: Possible face-shield heater issue at 110,000 ft. Trust me, it sucks when your face shield fogs over in freefall.

Damn, that spin scared the heck outta me! Great telemetry. Great job, Baumgartner, Kittinger and the entire team!

My FAVORITE part, thus far, has been this:

"On Sunday, Kittinger had a special message for all the doubters at the post-jump press conference. "I'd like to give a special one finger salute to all those who said he'd come apart going supersonic."

Considering he hit Mach 1.24 or nearly 834 miles per hour you gotta love his attitude!:D

This sort of "desk expert" thinking by the "doubters" harkens me back to the guys who went faster than the wind, dead down wind, in a wind powered vehicle. Doubters said it was "impossible", "Can't be done", "can't re-write physics" etc. etc. yet they did it, just as Felix did..

Also makes me think back to all the "desk experts" who claimed for 100's of years that a locked prop causes more drag than a free spinning one....;)

The "live" Youtube broadcast was actually delayed by 20 min. in case something happened, I assume they would shut down the feed. I doubt we would have even seen the spin if it ended tragically.

Quite amazing watching.
