Home Depot has foam for cushions.

This is for those of you who make their own cushions. I was at Home Depot the other day and found that they have foam 3"x30"x8' for $20 each. They were stocked in a variety of densities. The densities where not labeled or sorted but you can tell by squeezing. They ranged from very soft to pretty firm. If you lay them on the cement floor you can find one that will suit your comfort. That price is slightly lower that what I find a the wholesalers in the garment district.

That is a good price compared to the fabric stores around here. That size goes for about $75 plus tax.
I went to a mattress wholesaler and negotiated a price for 3 queen size 3" foam mattresses. It was allot cheaper than the fabric store.
But $20 is a good deal all round. I haven't seen it a HD here in Canada.

What department was it in? I've never seen sheet foam in either of our two local HD's here, and can't find anything online either..

My questions is whether it is open or closed cell foam. Closed cell is what you would want to use in a cockpit cushion as it won't hold water. Open cell is what we used in our cabin for the settee seats. 4 inch fairly firm foam with tight fitting upholstry worked perfectly.

Its open cell 3". If you wrap it in 1" thick batting I gives the cushions a professional looking roundness at the corners and fullness. It is the way most upholsterers make cushions. I buy 1" batting for $3 /yd. 72" wide.I also us it in the cockpit cushions with water proof Sunbrella. The water sheets off and the cushions stay dry. Close cell is extremely expensive as is flow through.

The best deal I've found up here is either Walmart or Canadian Tire. Its a slab 3'' x 48'' x 76'' and $50.00. Don't know about the density of either.

I wonder if they can order it for you? Next time I'm in there I will take pictures of the sku numbers. I'm not sure of how much control you will have in choosing the density if you order it. There were also labels from the manufacturers. My cell phone has an ap for reading bar codes. I will buy mine for the Luger this week and store them just in case they disappear before I need them.
