Rigging my asymetrical spinnaker

Hi all, looking for the group's collective wisdom here.

I've attached a photo of the head of my spinnaker in the dousing sock.

I've used it a few times but never been really happy with how it felt. The head always seemed to be a bit low.

So, should I attach the halyard to the actual head of the sail, to the line attached to the head and the block and ring or to the webbing?

To my mind it makes sense to attach to either the line or the ring so at to allow some room at the masthead for the ring of the sock. If I attach to the actual head, it will raise right to the masthead.

But looking for your expertise here.

The top of the sock, and its related harness for the hoisting tethers, is shackled directly to the halyard. The head of the spinnaker is attached to an extension inside the sock's harness..... mine has a swiveling connector. You might be able to change the length of the connector..... but it is most likely NOT adjustable. i.e. you need to fabricate another.

David, If you attach to the sock then the Sock will be ABOVE the head of the sail when the sock is pulled all the way up. If you attach to the head of the sail then the head of sail will always be inside the sock a little and may not want to spread out like it should the last few inches at the head.

Is your sail measured for your boat? If nor then your luff may be to long. I just had one made for Windsong and the sail loft measured my boat saying that all boats are different.

Yes, the previous owners had it was custom made for the boat. It's an awesome sail when we use it.

You clip your spin halyard to that SS ring (the one with sock doff/don cheek block and sock-top web). The line is an attempt at a spinnaker pennant (it is typically wire). Looks a little lightweight. And you are correct, that pennant gives your sock a place to collect above the sail. Nice sail.
