Any experiences/suggestions on a prop change on our Catalina 30 MKIII would be much appreciated. This is the Tall Rig, Wing Keel version. The engine is the Universal XP25 (23HP), and the current prop is the fixed 3 blade. Forward speed, at 2300 rpm is only an indicated 4.5knots. It does stop down very well, with the typical prop walk to port. I notice a .2knot affect in locking up the prop while sailing vs free-wheeling, so would like to consider a folding or feathering prop. Has any one made a good choice here they would recommend. I have experience in my old boats with both Flex-o-fold and Martec. The Martec two blade folding was not good in reverse, and not real great going forward. The Flex-o-fold was better, but very expensive.

Thanks,

I like my Kiwi prop.

I spent a lot of time studying all the props on the market and I decided Kiwi was the way to go. It is a feathering three blade prop. The blades are inexpensive to replace. Reverse is as almost as good as forward and the pitch can be adjusted. It made a big difference in handling around the dock. I have it fitted on a legend 35.5.
