Create your own chart cards for chartplotters?

Does anyone know if it's possible to create your own chart cards for chartplotters? I was considering buying an old Raymarine color radar/chartplotter, but I'd like to be able make my own chart cards, using freely available ENCs.

It's a good thought but sadly not possible. Every major plotter manufacture is linked to a chart vendor that has a proprietary chart format. Raymarine uses Navionics. The format of the chart is not available to consumers.

Thanks. I was hoping someone had hacked or cracked the format. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to steal a chart vendors intellectual property, I just want to use my own data in the plotter.

Incidentally, Raytheon/Raymarine made products that used Navionics and C-Map chart cards. I have an old Navionics card for my area, but the unit I am interested in, the SL70C/RC uses a C-Map card. The C-Map card of interest in about $300.

It's cool I get that totally. I used to work in product development at Magellan and people would ask me that all the time. In fact I have several perfectly good Magellan plotters that I don't have maps for in the area I'd like it so they gather dust on my gadget shelf.
