priceless

Sailboat towing a power boat = priceless.

I have never towed anything other than my jetskis with my sailboat, towed them out then droped the hook and rode them. I have towed many power boats and one sunfish with my jekski. The guy on the sunfish was wayout in the middle of the lake and the hull was cracked and taking on water, he didn't have a lifejacket on! It took a long time to get him back and he didn't offer me anything for my time or gas. If I had been on my sailboat that day i would have still helped him and it woul have been an easier tow.

We towed a 29 ft. powerboat with our sailboat just a few weeks ago, but not under sail. Got a call at 11 PM from our friends saying they ran out of fuel about two miles from the marina. They wanted to know if we had a gas can we could bring them - given that our engine is diesel, I said that we did not, but we would come get them and tow them back. Sad thing is that we got back to the marina so late that there wasn't anyone around to see it. Of course, we know the truth and he will never live it down. PS - he bought a Boat US membership the next day.

Not so much one type of boat helping another type as people helping people.

Last winter I pulled a snow plow out of the ditch with my 10,000 pound wench on my F-550.

Should have gotten pics of that.

I slip by the marina gas pump and I see all sorts of watercraft pulling in out of gas boats.

Way too funny. It goes back to my favorite saying:

A sailboat without an engine is still a sailboat. A powerboat without an engine is a barge!

We do have one. See that little set of scales at the bottom of your avatar field?
But remember, buttons aren't toys!

One boat pulling another, people helping people: during the last few seasons I have helped pull in two power boats and a jetski. BUT, on a couple of occasions, some anglers helped pull my keel out of the mud.

While sailing last year I was about to tack and noticed a 20 powerboat drifting towards shore with someone paddling. It was a family of 4 with young children aboard and a very stressed mom. We immediately dropped sails and fired the outboard up. There were many jeers and cheers as we towed them into their yacht club but all were smiling, especially the mom :). Agreed, people helping people!

so you are actually speaking of a WINCH, as opposed to a WENCH, which is a referral to a female human being....

And the winch wench is what they call my girlfriend when we race.

She also gets beer bitch on occasion but then that one is non gender specific and refers to anyone closest to the cooler.

No shots of the wench, keep it under cover so it does not rust. My old one was 9000 pounds and under warranty they gave me the 10000 pound model when the old one's control box broke off from vibration.

nnnnnnnnnnnn...na na na na naaaaaaaaaaaa (sound heard by someone missing the joke.... similar to a fast moving object passing overhead)

De gustibus non est disputandum!
That looks German, eh? I took four years of French and all I ever learned was " Ho` ho` ho` (pronounced ho` ho` ho`)
That's one big truck for a winch or wench.

All you get

Translates to "In matters of taste, there is no dispute."

Sunday night was fireworks night at Havre de Grace. Hundreds of power boaters cruise down to get close. Of course when they come back it is full dark but lots of light from town and the nearly full moon. There was one boat maybe 28 footer with absolutely no lights showing and not far behind that one was another with a flashing blue light. Flashing blue followed No Lights all the way to his slip.
