So, now that we delivered Anomaly, it's time for a blitzrestore on Happy Talk, the K-50 in our shop. Complete strip of the hull, fasteners from the Garboard turn to the waterline, wood work topside, paint and varnish. All to be done by August first so she can celebrate her fitieth at the Port Townsend Woodenboat Festival.

Here she is on day nine.




























The boys stripped the bottom paint in 12 hours from start to finish after a 48 hour soak. Crazy....


Much further along as of today. More pictures soon.

I'm in the middle of varnishing new floor boards for the dink and I feel the same way......Charlie makes it look so easy

Yeah... Today I was going to post pics of the repair job and new varnish I put on my rudder blade... now I'm thinking I'll just delete them :neutral:

Damn beautiful boat though.... thanks for the pics.

those kettenburgs look so delicate--awesome pretty boats--nicely joined--this one still has her looks, seems---awesome!!

Nah, post that up! I wanna see what others are doing out there as well. Even the little jobs sometimes give me ideas...

There is one item worth knowing: The Parks Company is now packaging a shellac that is intended for undercoating previously finished wood before the polyurethane goes on. Prior to this it was necessary to remove every trace of old unknown finish before you could get reliable bonds with polyurethane.
