Just got my copy of (mag intentionally left out), read one article and threw it in the trash without reading anything else, there was nothing else worth reading.. IMHO there was nothing that was not already "regurgitated"... The latest issue of this mag was about 84%+ ads, worse than Cosmopolitan or other mags read by my wife..... Arghhh.....

I'm glad they are still getting revenue it's just too bad these "high profile" sailing mags, and others, are taking that road instead of actual useful content...:cussing: Course they don't make any money publishing "useful content" only selling ads. If I am reading a magzine with that many ads they should pay me, not me pay them....:D

Out of 120 pages less than 20 were dedicated to actual "useful content" (my opinion of what I found "useful") and even those 20 pages had ads on them making the total "print" of "useful content" less than 20 pages out of 120......

When I buy a magazine and realize I am paying for, 100 pages of ads, and 20 partial pages of "useful" content. To me the boat reviews (giant ads) are not content nor are recipes in a mag on SAILING but I digress. If I want recipes my wife has stacks of cooking magazines....;) When I buy a SAILING magazine I want some USEFUL SAILING CONTENT.......;);) Is that too much to ask...??????

I work at a library and have made sure our subscriptions to Small Craft Adviser and Wooden Boat are kept intact. Both are worthwhile reads. I subscribe to Good Old Boat and had a subscription to Practical Sailor, but couldn't keep both so I dropped PS. It's a great magazine, but honestly I would only find something useful to me in one out of four issues. And I never could figure out what my subscription gave me access to on their website. It is very confusing.

There it is, I'm a recovering DPA, dump pickers anonymous, and now I'm going to be checking Maine Sails trash. Getting the monthly "boat porn" helps me through the winters. I will agree with the redundance, but that's how you know which month it is. Stack every January issue for five years and the content is mostly the same. I would like a three page fold out of older boats so I could see owner modifications.
I'm sitting in a boat yard looking at a full keel yacht with (don't know the term) keel planes about mid-ship on each side. They kinda look like something from a submarine, I'll get a picture when it stops raining.

If I learn nothing else from this board, the term Boat Porn will be enough to make me happy. I've seen this in other posts and never fails to make me laugh. I'm a total boat-porn-aholic.

Good Old Boat, Lats and Atts, Mainsheet, Spinsheet, Practical Sailor, BoatUS and all of those free ones that you get from the boat shows, which is the true boat porn since most of the boats and other stuff are completely unattainable for me!!!

Hi merlinuxo,
No and I forgot to grab a picture during the rain. We left and I hope it's sitting there when we get down there again. Looked like one of these on each side of the keel. The sailing ship was steel bottomed and over 100 foot.
