Does anyone have a link to a really good how-to on battery maintenance. I understand it is best to run your bank down to 50% a few times when new but I am not sure if it's best to leave the charger on after this to keep them topped off or if I should turn the charger off and let the batteries drop to 50% before charging them all the time or what. I am using my newly installed battery monitor to determine SOC for the first few 50% cycles.

I didn't (at least not on the first 2 pages) or I wouldn't have asked here. Maybe we have different ideas of really good.

keep them clean, tops and terminals
don't dischage more deeply than needed
recharge compleatly
maintain the water level
never ever
store discharged
compleatly (<9 volts) discharge (you loose about 20% battery life each time you do this)
let the water level fall below the plate's tops
charge to the point they get "hot to the touch"
