Hello,

I recently purchased 4 golf cart wet cell batteries and a xantrex 40amp charger. I currently have a near brand new 100ah agm battery that i only use in emergencies.

The charger has 3 settings for different battery types and CANT be set per bank. Now I'm in a pickle that i have two different types of batteries.

What are the possible solutions that will charge both banks properly?!

Thanks!

What brand AGM? What are it's recommended float and absorption voltage settings.? It may work or it may not. Some wet 6V like to be charged a a high voltage and AGM's should not be over charged but you can often find a happy medium. The other option is to charge the AGM with a battery to battery charger..

Or you can do some research, like try this:

Go to www.balmar.net and open one of their regulator manuals, like the MC-614 or 612.

All of Balmar's regulator manuals has a good half a page of charging regimens.

You can use these, plus Maine Sail's ideas for checking with your battery manufacturer.

As I recall, finding MS's "middle road" idea is pretty easy, since the voltages for AGMs and flooded or deep cycle banks is very, very close.

Happy reading, and good luck.

Its a west marine seavolt 92ah. It says its charge/absorbtion/equalize between 13.8-14.6 @ 77f (thats straight off the battery- i thought you couldnt equalize an agm)

Float/standby between 13.4-13.6 at 77f

Thanks for the link to that site. I'll look through it

Thanks,
