If I was in Oxnard I'd go and look the boat over for you.
I did this for a guy from Chile who bought a boat on Long Island (NY). It was a 32' Allied Seawind ketch and I took a bunch of candid pictures for the future owner. He also hired a surveyor.
For my efforts I got a short sail on the boat with him.
Not an unusual request at all.

Sailnet has a 17 page "stickey" on people asking for and volunteering to do non professional personal "inspections" on boats local to them...

Pretty commmon request, usually just done out of courtesy and for good will..

Gary, I have an honest question. Not intending to be a wise pack animal at all with it.

Why in the world are you desiring to own 2 'nearly' identical boats?

Are you planning on keeping them both on the same lake and have match races or do you need a 12 step program?

It sounds like if you put both those boats in that lake at the same time you'd raise the water level.

Bob, must be lots of places or the early settlers wouldn't have used all those "praire schooners" to move through Nebraska.

Longterm, your right, when you look at a map 1800 acres does not even show up. But hey its all we got in our local area. We have a huge lake 35000 acres about 4-5 hours away and then another one up on the Missouri about 2 hours away. I had a boat in Dana Point Cal. in a slip and did not use it as much as I could have, wow I wish I could do it over! Oh well I guess I will make the most of it!

A surprising answer to a trivia question I heard a number of years back.... Which state has the most water with in it's boundaries?....... let's see, Minnesota- land of ten thousand lakes, No. Michigan- bordered on 3 sides by the great lakes, No.... Florida... lakes, marshes, swamps, rivers... not. How bout Looziana? nah... the answer is........ Nebraska!!!!

I don't think Tennessee does either, but we have lots of dams; in Nashville we have Old Hickory Lake (where my boat's located) and Percy Priest Lake, which is landlocked but fairly large.

Two hours west of here are two huge dam-created lakes, Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. You can spot them on any map, on the northwest border of TN. Very nice, but 2 hours away by car and 2 days away motoring downriver. This summer we'll motor there and spend a few days.
