Not getting the boat in the water is a year missed never to be regained. I went through the same ordeal 20 years ago but it is amazing how things can change and improve in a fairly short time period. Good luck.

There are many ways to loose a sailing year, None of them are good. I can count cancer(Nancy) Gut surgery and hip surgery (Me) Three years lost for that, last year the demands of work, a hurricane and two floods. This year there is hope. If they can get the sea wall repaired.

Seriously, thank you. All of your kind words and thoughts touched me deeply and while it may not make up for the loss of my lovely Emmanuel, it helps much more than any of you know.

It is amazing thing how sailors are to each other. I have seen so much kindness between sailors. If you have a problem there is always another sailor willing to lend a hand.

Think of it. How many times have you been at the dock working on something and a complete stranger came by and offered to help you? Have you ever pulled into a transient slip and they guy in the boat beside the slip comes out to help you set your lines or get into the slip?

I am convinced that if everyone in the world was a sailor it would be a better place!

Princess....Once you are part of the community you are always part of the community. I hope that you find another boat soon and until then I am sure that there are a lot of other places and people that will sail with you!

on a lighter note have your divorce in Georgia i am sure the judges down here will award you the boat and maybe even som maintance money to boot

Add San Diego to your list......... there are a number of us out here who would be delighted to share our boats with you.... My modest 27 footer is a blast to sail and the marina is in a lovely area... Mission Bay Park. Luz and the others are over in San Diego Bay... it would be fun to have an SBO gathering out here... hey... good idea.

Hey Princess, sorry for your troubles. If you would consider a trip to Rochester, NY at some point in 2013 I would be happy to have you aboard for the sea trials of YOT. My wife likes to go for boat rides but with MS she isn't crew capable. My lads don't have any experience yet. Me I only took it to haul out for the recycling and haven't hanked on a sail in over 25 years. Dibs on Lake Ontario.

Princess, [why not launch and move aboard?] What I did when we split 12 years ago. Lived 13 months on my old 30 foot Pelle Petterson near Washington in a creek off the Potomac. Wonderful experience and great way to transition. If your family situation (children??) allows give it a thought.

Every time I see this really cute girl in a bar, I think .. Is this worth losing the boat over.? Still have my boat.
