bow tow eye

I have a 72 19' O'day. The tow eye along with 2" of the bolt broke off. Looks like the easiest thing is to fill in the hole and put in a replace eye about a inch above or below the existing hole. Any one had to do this and have any thoughts they can pass on?

The previous owner of my DS II also broke the bow eye one year. He simply replaced it using a new bow eye using the same hole in the bow. If you fill the old hole and install a new one higher or lower, your bow eye will no longer line up properly with the winch on your trailer (unless the winch is already higher/lower than the bow eye? In that case, it might be better to move the bow eye to match the location of the winch.

If your reason for relocating the eye is due to a piece of the bolt still being stuck in the bow, you should be able to push it out using a metal rod.

thanks. Did not appreciate it was a bolt. It popped right out once I removed the inner panel in the bow.
