I am on the board of a non profit youth sailing association. We have been offered a 1986 Morgan 28 as a donation. We would not keep it and use it we would be looking to sell it and put the money to the Optis and Sunfish the kids sail. We looked at the boat this afternoon and the boat is clean everything seems to work and is ready to sail. It is a little rough around the edges nothing major but everything needs some attention. It would be a great project boatfor someone who had the time.

Anyway anyone out there familiar with this boat? Looks like it is a shoal keel with a centerboard. I really do not want to have another boat to watch over but if we can make a buck or two on this one it may be worth us accepting.

Morgans are good boats. If you accept it and end up only getting a couple grand out of it for whatever reason, you're still that far ahead right? As long as that $$ doesn't get eaten up in dock fees.
Is it a traditional 28? That would be older (late 60s) and a sweet sailing boat. This is the one with the UW config you describe. The other 28 is the Out Island and has a shallow keel and no CB so it doesn't point well but has tons of interior room. Kinda going from performance to condo.
Either way, in decent shape that boat should bring in enough to get you guys started.
