Honda Generator

I'm planning on purchasing a Honda 2000 generator to power my AIRRR air conditioner, 12k btu's. Does anyone know whether that will power the system when on the hook? I have a 30 amp plug at my stern for shore power, that powers the air unit.

Nope...it will take a much bigger one than the 2000 to do that!

PAst posts have indicated that the 2000I can run an AC up to around 12K BTU..especially with a hard start kit on the Air Cond.. Check these threads

I run a 16.5 K Mermaid A/C unit on a Honda EU2000 without a hard start capacitor. You have to turn off the Eco-Throttle switch on the Honda, but other than that it works great. There have been numerous discussions on this and other forums on this topic.

I disagree; my Kipor 2000 generator runs my 12,000 BTU A/C just fine.

my Yamaha 2000iS runs my 9,000btu webasto without a hard start cap.. the eco needs to be turned off on the yamaha when i start the AC.. and it works HARD to get it going.. but it does get it running.

Before this gets too misguided, I'd suggest you search the archives for similar questions as the issue of A/C powered by the H2000 has been discussed in depth already. The consensus is that it should be no problem to run a 12K A/C IF everything else is working properly. I suspect those who have a problem attribute it to the wrong issue(s) such as the capacity of the Honda rather than inadequate wiring, higher than acceptable voltage drop, inefficient A/C units, etc... as there are many factors that contribute to effectively using the Honda to run an A/C unit.

My suggestion to you Deb is to borrow a Honda from someone nearby which shouldn't be a problem as they are quite popular and try it yourself before prematurely giving up because someone else had a problem.

I won't go into the dirty details, but I can tell you that the Honda 2000 definately runs my new Cruiseair 16,000 with smart start and will run flawlessly in eco mode. It has to be a newer Cruiseair unit, my original was fom 2002 and that drew too much to ever run on the Honda, bought a new Cruiseair with smart start and we are happy

There has been a ton of activity and research done on this topic at the c34 website and others. My Honda 2000 easily runs the Flagship 16000 on my C34. However, there is a big article on the hard start adaptor and the cruisair 1600 which states the Honda will run in eco mode. It also states it will run most 12000 btu units. try googeling it.
