I have attached a link that shows 7 different videos of maritime incidents. Although most of them are commercial boats, there is an underlying theme, not enough account taken of windage i think, you be the judge.

Not to smart? I didnt get that impression at all.

They didnt mention anything about a liferaft though which I would consider standard equipment for a trip from Mexico to Hawaii.
