I have a set of Ray Jefferson gauges in my boat...The Knotmeter and the NM log both work (sending and display) and I have no reason to believe the wind speed indicator WD60 and the wind direction indicator WD30 shouldn't work as well...

But I do not have the mast top sending units and cable(s)...

Anyone have a WS and Direction mast top unit they would part with...?

Or anyone familiar with these units, can I mate them to another brand sending unit...?

Cable looks to be phone line or Cat5... easy enough to replace, indicators have "open lugs" exposed on back so minimal hookup required..

Found this piece in a ten year old Raymarine customers support forum..... you might try the company mentioned for parts.

"Where can I find parts and service for my Ray Jefferson product? Is Ray Jefferson associated with your company?"

Ray Jefferson was an independent manufacturer of Marine Electronics, and was never a part of Raymarine. Unfortunately, Ray Jefferson went out of business about 5 years ago.

There is an outfit in South Carolina, called GEM Electronics, that may still have some parts and accessories for Ray Jefferson products. You can contact them directly at (843)394-3565.
Here's a little heads up for you ..... this kind of stuff is really hard to find, and it is rare that the older technology instruments would be even close to compatible with anything newer. You might try e-bay. If I were you I wouldn't drive yourself crazy trying to match this part up.... I would invest my time in finding an affordable replacement. Look elsewhere besides the big name brands like Ramarine, BG, Garmin, etc. Do a google search for brands like Northstar Navman, NASA, etc.... here's a nice NASA unit you can buy from an online UK based store for about $368 US dollars. http://www.marinemegastore.com/prod...LEINS008&cid=7YNGGGBO3FHLQ0RE8HAR3WSON1YDQWKM

I'll give them a call and see whats up, but your probably right...

After I posted this request I did some searching and found very little mention of Ray Jefferson products and no mention of my "vintage" equipment...

I think I'll just pull them and patch the holes in the bulkhead...make room for the big screen digital LED readout with GPS/PC/NORAD interface...

That sounds like a good idea. Actually, you'll find that you can sail quite niceley without an electronic wind instrument. I've found the "shroud" tells to be very convenient for watching your apparent wind direction. Combine those indicators with the compass on your GPS and an understanding of how to use them to determine tacking angle, true wind direction, etc.... and that's pretty much all you need. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...toreNum=50045&subdeptNum=50103&classNum=50106

Just Lucked Out Today..!!!

Buddy of mine (actually new sailor buddy/met on forum) stopped by to look at my boat...

I mentioned the gauges and looking for a sending unit...He says he "might" have something..!!

Stopped by today with this, looks correct, has correct number of wires..Just need to run some "jumpers" to the gauges to see if they communicate...

Wish me luck...
