What are your thoughts regarding a freshwater rinse line led from the deck to the thin end (7.88 inches) of the new 22 gallon trionic I am installing in my '82 H33C? I thought it would help to keep the tank cleaner than trying to backwash the pumpout tubes. I've attached a diagram of the tank. My thought is that since I have an extra 1/2" through-fitting, I could mount it, attach a tube to a new fitting with a cap and hose thread mounted next to the pumpout deck fitting on the topside. Come pump out time, remove cap and attach fresh water hose to the fitting, pump out, add a gallon or two of rinse through this rinse line, pump it out, and rinse one more time. I have the 1/2" vent fitting mounted on the top near one side about at midpoint of the width, so plash up during rinse is not a problem. The vent line will attach to a deorderizer cartridge, then out the stock vent through hull mounted on the gunwale.

No reason not to it as long as...

...your systems isn't connected in ANY way to the onboard fresh water supply or any hose that's used for potable water.

However, I don't really see any reason TO do it...'cuz you'd just be sticking the hose into a new connection instead of directly into the deck pumpout fitting. Seems to me to be overkill and over-complicating something that only needs to be done 2-3x/season.

I'm guessing that you're an engineer?

But I doubt the pumpout people would appreciate you connecting a water hose in ANY manner to the septic system- especially if the hose is used to fill water tanks :naughty:

Many pump out facilities in SoCal have a dedicated hose with fresh water right by the pump for rinsing purposes. Your point is well taken; I wouldn't want to fill my fresh water tanks with that hose :snooty:

An engineer of sorts. I am really a chemist by education, but I am a computer systems engineer professionally. Also a carpenter... but I digress.

Sam Lust and I came to the same conclusion today while installing the tank. I already have a cleanout access port I can open and hose down the inside if the need should arise. The water hose at the pumpout station at my marina is strictly for deck washdown and backwash/rinse after pumpout (not potable); non-potable sign clearly posted. I posted a few pix for reference purposes. I will write it up and post to the H33_78-83 Mods.
