Looks really good Bill. Ready for cruisin'. Meanwhile we're watching it snow. :(

Thanks Ed, did more with our checkbook than we used to before I turned 71. More stuff to do after we get the boat back New Years, and load up the dingy. Then we're gone.

Hi

Sounds like you got everything done and have spare time to kill and you know my boat is waiting for bottom paint ????? Ha Ha.

Everything looks great but a question - did you use some sort of primer on the shaft, strut, and prop? Or is there a different type of bottom paint on those? I thought you weren't supposed to use regular bottom paint on the metals...
Also is it an optical illusion or is the shaft & prop have a lot of downward angle? I'm not too familiar with the 37' and I never saw one out of the water. Sorry if I got off subject...

Strut has been painted many times, just painted over old Trinidad. Prop is Fiberglass Kiwi, I painted it before the diver installed it. Shaft had some barnacles on it, so painter scraped them off and painted it. May not stay painted, but will keep early barnacles off.

Didn't mess with shaft angle, boat came that way. Boat has fair amount of prop walk, but I need it to turn 37' in a 50 foot fairway in my canal.

I can give you a name of a great painter who is substantially cheaper than the yard.

Manny, funny that you mentioned Bill's shaft angle. I know he is 71 but . . . . Anyway I put a picture of mine next to his and they do look different. But then you can see that my camera was not level. Pretty sure we use the same strut so I guess it is just parallax error.

Too funny Ed...
So does the engine on the 37 sit at a really nose high angle?
(sorry still off topic :) )

I've been on a lot of boats and I don't see the engine angle to be any different on mine. I have lots of pictures of the engine bay but you really can't tell. And our boats surely have the same hull and stern tube which dictates the strut length and shaft angle. So I just think it is the way Bill took the picture. Besides I am only a year younger than Bill so the angles . . . . . . :)

My protractor is on the boat, but I printed and folded both photos on the hull lines and shafts. Angle is the same, my hull is more or less level, so the shaft looks like it is pointing down futher.

I have a couple of inches of shims under my motor, but then I have a navy lifeboat 2.46:1 tranny The shaft out to the coupling is verry low. Strut got damaged in H Charlie and PO (Chet P)replaced, but I believe he replaced correctly.

Very smart Bill. I'm too cheap to print. I bought ink recently, wow!

I know about cheap. I only have one protractor and I used it lining up the davits. It's still on the boat.

Merry Christmas Ed
