Sorry to hear that, hope you mend fast. I broke my left femur skiing a few years ago, six months later, after just being able to start walking again, the titanium plate they put in broke, started all over again. I hear ya...

Why not kick a man when he's down!

Sorry Lost Parent ... I had to LOL at what fifedog said. Some guys (he is a dog ;)) are just pure opportunists! Anyway, I hope the humor gives you a lift. Good luck with the next recovery!

maybe you won't have to shovel snow. There must be some small benefit to this kind of an adventure.

Nice thought but wife already shovelled the snow
Besides everything else she has done for you now you really owe her big time. As soon as you can stand alone start doing the dishes.

The snow is usually only on the ski hills over here in the Canadian south-west. If you wanted to you can golf in the moringing, sail in the afternoon and night ski in the evening most of the year.

SLIIPED ON GOD DAMM ICE AND BROKE OTHER ANKLE

I am about to tell you a true story. When i was about 27, i lived in the UK, tried to impress a woman on the way home from a pub, by doing a hand spring over a wall, but i landed badly, breaking one of the bones in my lower leg. Ended up in plaster, up to my knee. Couple of weeks later (while stilll in plaster, and with antother week to go before i see the doc again) a guy i knew was looking for a crew, so i after two weeks in plaster, and with a desperation to go sailing, i cut the cast off myself, and went sailing. I did it in my mums house, with her cooking knives, took me about an hour and a half to hack that cast off, when my mum got home, and saw my laying on the settee minus a cast, she went nutts. I limped up the stairs, packed my bag, and next day, went sailing for a week.

I am a lot older now, and probably woudnt do it again, but, I think even then as now, as long as i was very careful, and didnt fall badly or something, the leg would be ok, and they are. I say they, because over my life, i have broken my legs three times, that was the second, the third time, i had to get some metal plates and pins put in. Havent broken any since then, and that was a long time ago the last time, that was 98, last time i broke something, (apart from my hand, but i dont count that because i never went to hospital, i should have though, because it didnt set right)

Great start Ho holidays

You have very successfully taken breaking an ankle out of the risk factor for when you make it to your boat!

Heal fast!
