Hi Folks, still working away on our new to us Beneteau First 42. Love this boat more every day, however she is a little slow in divulging some information. Hopefully somebody out there knows the answer to this one.
We have pulled the Autostream prop (not original to boat), prop shaft and are installing a new cutlass. When we pulled the prop we noticed that the nut that was used was cross threaded. We suspect that whomever installed this prop, here in the USA, didn't have the proper thread for the prop nut to match this french shaft and made do with something 'close'. Well we would like to not have to cross thread the thing back on. Anyone know what the taper and thread size it for the Beneteau First 42 shafts?
Thanks a bunch:)

I'm guessing that the guy who cross threaded the wrong nut onto your shaft found the information in a similar manner. :)

I could suggest that the shaft is a standard 30 mm, but really the way you do this is to collect your BIN, the phone number for BeneteauUSA and maybe mic the shaft diameter and put a call into Ward or one of the guys at BUSA. One of the great things about a production boat and a strong factory presence in the US of A is we don't have to guess about these kind of things.

You should also create an account for the online parts system for Beneteau. You have benefits!

Thanks Gunni, I have my email into Beneteau and they are working on it as we speak. I have signed up for the sysilios(?) system, so things are looking good. We are loving having a production boat!
