Mary,

What product did you use? I'm considering Kiwi Grip.

My steps:
1. Clean deck w/soap & water
2. Clean deck w/vinegar, then hose off deck
3. Scrub w/scrubby pad with Interlux Surface Prep, hose off deck as I go so it doesn't dry
4. Mask off area after deck is dry
5. One coat of Interlux Pre-Kote
6. One coat of Interlux Brightside with Intergrip No Skid added. Paint was 3 part white w/ 1 part light blue.
7. One coat of Interlux Brightside w/OUT No Skid added. Same 3-1 ratio as in #6 above.
Tried brushing paint but didn't like it, so used 3" mini trim roller from Ace Hardware.

I did the project in sections (eat the elephant in small bites). Did cabin top, then side decks, then cockpit.

Kiwi Grip is NOT shinny. I would consider it a mat finish.

If I was using it I would make the finish aggressive to begin with. You can also tint it. Personally I like/prefer the white or very light grey, but to each his own.

The worst part of doing the non-skid is the masking process. If you use Kiwi you remove the tape nearly as soon as you are done rolling on the "stuff".
