Today marks our one year anniversary of boat ownership. Review of the ship's log shows we had 20 trips on her, involving 31 days of sailing and 16 nights on board. This just covers sailing,it does not include the days/nights at the boat cleaning, painting, etc. Not bad considering we both have full-time jobs. I am satisfied with the "usage" but at least 2 additional trips would have been better- missed Labor Day weekend and let a nice weekend get by us in May.
Without a doubt, the highlight was a 5 day trip up the Chesapeake Bay in July that included a beautiful night sail up to Solomons Island.
Fellows- thanks for all your help over the year. Ed H

Congrats Ed! I am in the process of purchasing a 1983 H33 C (survey Saturday) and can't wait for splash next spring. I've been luking on this site for a week or so and have enjoyed your posts. There are many projects in store for our H33C (can't help calling it ours even thow its not yet), but they appear to be managable. I hope the survey comes back reasonable. With any luck, our first year will be as productive as what you have had. Thx for the great photos you attached.

From what I have read, the H33C is a fine boat with many pluses and few gripes (everything is a trade-off in sailboat design). I have completey refurbished our Tanzer 26 and she is ready for a new owner to continue the tweaking. I have done everything from building a new rudder and cockpit sole plate to fiber glass rebuild of the maststep, awlgrip, running rigging updates, port lights, electronics, and kiwi grip. Our H33C projects should be even more fun since they seem to be mainly on the interior (aside from shortening the rudder and putting down kiwi grip to freshen up the non-skid).

Do you know how many H33Cs were made?

It seems that Hunter got rid of a lot of history at some juncture. People have called for that kind of info without success. It would help if we all added our HIN's to the Owner database. There is a 1984 listed in the Owner Directory without its HIN. Also two 1983s without their HIN. There is a 1982 with this hull id: HUN33543M82G. Did they really make 543 H33s before 1983?

I actually have (or should I say will be closing on it next week) HUN33513M82C (the C was in question for a while until I got a look at the title and HULL stamp), which I think mean it was certified in March of 1982. The title says it is an '83 for some reason. Sam Lust just got back from vacation and let me know that apparently he has one of the very last with #591 certified in 83. That's quite a run of boats.

Hunter started the numbering at 100 so there are more or less 491 H 33 C's. There may be a few Hunter 33 Quest boats sold later, but they were kits completed by owners and each is different. My feeling is they sold off a few remaining hulls because the 34 was in production and doing bery well.
