Oil Painting Of My Boat

go to the upper end art shows on the street ...where the flat artists market there work and look at what they do.... then ask if they do commisioned work ...if you find some one that will do it ...be sure you tell them what time of day the pic was taken and the time of the year and what direction the boat was faceing so they can get the colors and shadows correct in the painting...that kind of thing makes a bid dif in how it turns out ....hope this helps ....

just a word of caution dont tell your budget when inquireing ...let the artist set his price and if he or she is cheaper that the grand you will have a bargan and if you really like there work use part of the differance if any to tip them and you may have a little left over for framing work...you can also ask if they frame there work aswell some do some dont .... at any rate good luck...

I've had good luck with Photoshop; send the file to Costco or some other photo processor for a canvas wrap and wow! Of course it won't have the true texture of an actual oil but it's a heck of a lot less expensive.

Jim DeWitt in SF is fantastic

I have been wanting to have him do one of our boat for years. Go to his website (listed in a previous post) and you will get to know him......he is a perfect person to do this kind of painting because he knows both sailing and painting and captures the energy you feel while sailing. His daughter is the main person to talk with these days...... I sure hope we have a chance to get this done with him while he is still painting.......

Jim DeWitt

Cool thing about the way Jim DeWitt will paint your picture is it does not have to be a great picture he goes by.....my idea would be to show him some of our boat pictures, give him pictures of our family members and then give him license to create the picture himself. Would love a picture of our boat, family members on the rails, etc... still saving my pennies for this.
