Hello; I recently looked at a 84 O'day 30. It was a very nice boat but the one thing I noticed was a drain plug in the keel? Did these boats come with this or is water getting in somehow and the owner did this to remove it? I couldn't imaging that water sitting inside the voids in the keel could be very good.

I would not let it scare you away. If it is a garboard type drain, it is safe as can be and you just might find it a nice convenience to be able to drain the billge for winter time, or to keep the plug open so that no water accumulates in the bilge when the boat is out of the water. I think it is a good thing, not a negative thing. I wished more boats had this feature.
The drain is a garboard type drain but its located at the very bottom of the keel. The bildge isn't very deep so water must be getting into the keel somehow.
