Centerboard Yacht Club is hosting the 3rd annual 2011 Northeast Harbor Race August 26-28. This is a 100nm race from Portland, Maine to Northeast Harbor. It is a lot of fun and lands in Northeast Harbor on Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park.

We have sailed this race 3 times now and I am one of the organizers. The race has 3 classes, racing, cruising and double-handed racing. It is geared more towards cruisers who want to get to Acadia in a single overnight trip so they can start their cruise.

We always have beautiful sunsets, amazing night sailing off shore(no pots) and incredible sunrises. The moon lights up the night while you hear whales blowing in the distance enjoying a nice sail with friends and family.

We'll probably be there, Tim, in our 30-footer this year. Not sure what class we'll sign up for; probably depends on how we're doing in the GMORA series and whether we need any more race days.

You forgot to mention the inevitable 4 a.m. calm period! :)

Gail, I have no idea what you are talking about.:naughty:

I guess your strategy put you in a hole at 4am;)

You southerners do get up this way. It seems there was a flotilla of boats out of So Freeport this past weekend in the Fox Island Thoroughfare and Perry Creek. We had friends from out of town onboard overnight so took them on my favorite sail through the thoroughfare. We grabbed a mooring next to a PS 34 or so, dark blue hull.

I got close enough to one nice classic boat from So Freeport in Perry Creek and asked if they knew Gail and Randy. Of course they did.

Was there some function up here Gail or just a group of friends?
