anyone have to replace the cable for a swingkeel? have tried getting to the attachment point on the keel in while in the water but no chance. Wondering if I can get to it if I beach her for the day...also, any tips on beaching a sailboat would be great as well:) (how do you make sure she tips to shore initially? is this tricky?)

cheers,

I've done this chore twice, both times on the trailer with the boat supported off the bunk boards to allow room to reach the cable attachment point. This is what I'd call an "advanced procedure" for ONLY for someone competent at lifting with a winch or lifting device safely.

What model/brand is your sailboat? There are several posts and a few photos here you could search and get some ideas. As far as beaching your boat, guess it depends again on what size boat and condition of the beach...again lots of variables.

The safest way to do this would be to pay a boat yard with a lift to haul your boat out and have everything ready to replace the cable while it's up on the lift then just drop it back in the water.
