Hi, looking to go to Solomons next week and looking for a better, cleaner, more family friendly place. Last time we stayed at a dump with loud pounding nightclub til 2:30, still drunk fishermen shouting at 5am, and complimentary puke on the bathroom and shower floor. Someone suggested Zahnisers as very nice?

Try Spring Cove. Quiet, friendly, pool, very nice grounds. Always the place we stop.

We have stayed at Solomons Yachting Center. Friendly staff, floating docks, loaner bicycles, pool & laundry. But if the wind is out of the south be prepared for a pounding. I think there is nothing but open water between their tee-head and Cape Charles. That is some serious fetch.

!st choice would be Zanheisers; restaurant on site and also nearby , pool, good ships store and the maritime museum just around the corner.

Another vote for Zahnisers. The staff was fantastic, the food is great, clean facilities. The marina is within walking distance to town and the museum.

I'd vote for Zahnisers as well. I don't keep my boat there, but they do all the heavy listing on maintenance. Dock Master and staff are very friendly.

My vote is for Spring Cove. I believe it is a little smaller than Zahnisers and less expensive, yet is a very nice place in good condition. Our boat was there on the hard last winter, and while we moved our boat to the naval base (much lower cost than any commercial marina) my next choice for a slip would have been Spring Cove.

Spring Cove!
They didn't charge me 6 more feet for my bowsprit as Zahnizers wanted.

Zahnizers Has Cheap Moorings

Moorings are $30 to $40 per night depending on size rating. They entitle you to full use of the marina and pool. Only problem is no shore power if you have AC.

Well, thanks for the info. As Ron pointed out the heat might be too much. Might drive to Newburn NC and poke around. We will see how the weather shapes up on the weekend.

My favorite? The Navy's Recreational Facility but unfortunately is not open to the public.

Either Zanheizers or Spring Cove .... both rate quite equally in my book.

Best local restaurant is the 'Captains Table' ... about midway between Z's and Spring Cove. Another good restaurant is the Naughty Gull just to the west of Spring Cove.
